Douglas Kennard McLean, 83, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery will follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Doug was born October 29, 1928 in Wapello, Iowa to Harold and Grace McLean. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Joan Morgan September 26, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He retired in 1993 after working over three decades with AMF and Western International as a Tool and Die Maker.

Doug and Joan lived in the same East Side home for over fifty years, where they raised four children. He enjoyed spending time with his family, many neighborhood friends, fishing, yard work, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include children: Kevin (Christy) McLean, Cathy (Tom) Juneau, Janet (Joel) Brown; sisters, Andrea (Jack) Morgan, Carol Hervey. Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, Kurt and brothers, Sonny and Neal.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Village in Des Moines.
