Frank was born March 5, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to Arthur Buford and Carrie Luttrell. He was the baby of the family, and younger brother to Mary Frances and Anthony Buford Luttrell. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Frank graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. He received his associate's degree in business from Arlington State College. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Texas A&M in 1956. He proudly wore his Aggie ring every day of his life. After college he spent two years active duty in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Dallas police officer, a private detective and an insurance claim adjuster. After retirement he came back to work as head of security for a high rise office. His final job was as a school crossing guard in Ankeny. He loved all of "his kids" whom he helped cross the street every day and they loved him.

Frank loved learning, earned a law degree, and was an avid history buff. He was a lifelong magician and was recently named to the Order of Merlin Excalibur in recognition of his fifty years support of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

In 1960, he married Deanna Ridlen. Last year the happy couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Frank loved his children, Frances Anne and her husband John, Carrie Elizabeth, Teresa Marie, and Franklyn Dean Jr. and his wife Stephanie. He also loved his six beautiful grandchildren, Jonathan, Tina and her husband Ronnie, Daniel, Caitlynn, Carter and Remington, and his two great-grandchildren, Donovan and Carmen.

Frank was a loyal friend to his six dearest and longest known friends whom he nicknamed "The Pallbearers," Johnny Ingram, Paul Siegel, David Dyer, Wayne Ragsdale, and Wordy Jack Thompson.

The family would like to thank all the first responders of Ankeny, including the paramedics, police department, fire department, and all the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center who took care of Frank in his final hours.

He was our Hero.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to The Texas A&M Foundation, Attn: Mark Browning, at 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840, in memory of Frank Luttrell Sr. '56.
