Fred Arthur Reeck went home to be with his Lord and his wife on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Story County Health Center in Nevada.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sebbie (Gibson) Reeck; his wife, Lorraine Verna (Fischer) Reeck; brothers: Jack, Wayne and Lewis; his sisters: Lelia Whitaker, Della Harvey, Flora Coe, Alberta Reeck, Virginia Reeck and Arlene Dewey.

Fred was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 16, 1917 to John and Sebbie (Gibson) Reeck. He graduated from North High School in 1936. Fred served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII. He was awarded the meritorious service unit star on August 23, 1944. Fred was in the 64th Engineer Topographic Battalion. He married his wife Lorraine in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1999. Fred was a member of First Federated Church and was a member of the board at Des Moines Christian School. He was an electrician by trade.

Fred is survived by his children: daughters: Connie (Dave) Belew of Johnston; Linda (Glenn) Goodman of Joelton, TN; and sons: Wayne Reeck of Grimes and David (Vickie) Reeck of Nevada. Fred had nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters: Jean Signs of Tallahassee, FL, Mae Lu (Bob) Saf of Des Moines, and sister-in-law Ruth Reeck of Des Moines; his brother, Norman (Josephine) Reeck of Urbandale; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Merle Hay Funeral Home with burial at Chapel Hill Gardens. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 18 Sept 2011.
