Karin M. Wheeler, 92, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018, at UnityPoint Methodist in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Burial of Karin and Frank will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines with the ashes of her husband Frank
Karin retired from Farm Bureau in West Des Moines after many years. She is survived by a sister, nieces, and nephews, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Association of Retarded Citizens.

Karin, a longtime resident of Des Moines, was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois. Her parents, Anders and Hildur Nelson originated from Sweden. She was the youngest of 5 children. Karin graduated from Evanston High School in 1943. In 2006, Karin was awarded a Service Certificate for her personal dedication to the welfare of the citizens of the State of Iowa.
Karin was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Wheeler; brother, Anders Nelson; sisters, Britta Cleary and Anna Marie Bowman; and two sons, Craig Wheeler and Scott Wheeler.
Karin is survived by her sister, Inga Trestrail; daughters, Sandra (John) Lloyd and Nancy (Kent) Rounds; niece, Linda (Tim) Ayers; nephews, Carl (Regina) Cleary, Nelson (Enid) Cleary, Fred (Theresa) Cleary, and Andy (Lisa) Trestrail; three grandchildren, Eric (Jenni) Rounds, Jason (Jill) Rounds, Angee (Matt) Fuoss; and 6 great grandchildren, Allee, Cameron, Cole, Chase, Jabe and Lydia.
