Maurice W. Hallbauer, 73, of 6901 S.E. 14th St. died of a respiratory ailment Friday at Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Southtown Funeral Home. The body will be cremated following services.
Mr. Hallbauer was born in Wellston, Mo., and had lived in Des Moines since 1956. He was a retired surveyor for the Veenstra and Kimm Co., and was a navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Fort Des Moines Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; five daughters, Connie Bennett, Deb McDaniel, Kim Hallbauer and Kelli Jo Hallbauer, all of Des Moines, and Pat McBroom of Woodridge, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the American Lung Association.
