Kathleen Bullington, 80, passed way Thursday at Methodist Medical Center after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at First Christian Church with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery.
Kathleen was born in Marshalltown; IA to Raphael and Marjorie Burke. She obtained her college education at the University of Iowa and Drake University. Education was important to Kathleen as she was a retired, Des Moines School teacher where she taught in the talented and gifted program before obtaining a grant to disseminate a national math program titled Success Understanding Mathematics. After retirement she was active in DMARSPA, Des Moines Women's Club, AAUW, church activities and various volunteer work.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, William; two daughters: Anne Bullington and Mary Jo (Lonnie) Mallon; two grandchildren, Andrew and Katie Mallon; and a brother: Dr. John Burke. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at the Westover Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
