Obituary
John Robert Douglas, 88, peacefully passed away August 4, 2022 at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa. John was born January 9, 1934 to Merle and Pauline Douglas of Ackworth, IA.

He treasured his family and friends first and foremost. He also enjoyed card games with special friends and was an avid fan of NASCAR and racing for many years. John was very well known in the car business and dedicated his life to wholesaling with auto dealers in our area until his last days.

He is survived by his loving companion of 38 years, Julie DeMarce, his two children: son, John J. of Lakewood, CO, and daughter, Judy Howard of Windsor Heights, IA, and their mother, Josephine Douglas, with whom John shared 32 years of marriage. He will be remembered by his grandchildren: Jayme Howard (Rachel), Anne Howard (Daniel Allerman), and John M. Douglas, and great grandson: Isaac Flathers.

John will be dearly missed by his family, many friends, numerous establishments, and the car community. The family extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff at John Stoddard Cancer Center and at EveryStep Kavanagh House for their excellent care, kindness, and patience with him as he was feisty till the end.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at Norm’s Pub - 400 6th Street, Waukee, IA 50263
