Obituary

In loving memory of Richard “Dick” Sepanic, husband, father, and brother, who passed away on June 20th, 2022. He was born on October 31st, 1942, the middle son of three boys of John and Anna (nee Shekon) Sepanic and grew up in New Jersey. He followed his older brother into the Air Force enlisting at the age of 18 in 1961. He served for four years as an aircraft mechanic and used that experience to establish a successful career in motor control system sales. He met the love of his life, Cynthia Hernych, in Colorado. They married in 1967 and together raised four children. He lived a life caring for family as a faithful loving husband, a devoted and protective father, a proud and doting grandfather, and a loyal brother. He was a gruff patriot who enjoyed going out for a good meal and sitting on the back porch watching the birds and squirrels with his dogs. His boisterous yell of “Let’s go!” will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cynthia; sons Jason (Kathleen) Sepanic; John (Abbie) Sepanic, Matthew (Gina) Sepanic and daughter Meredith Sepanic-Hall; grandchildren Anna, Jacob, Rebecca, Joseph, John, Scarlett, Violet, Samantha and Sadie; and older brother, John (Joyce) Sepanic and their three children from Audubon, NJ. Visitation will be at 9 AM on Monday, June 27th at St. Pius X Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM and internment at McDivitt Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Richard’s memory to America’s Vet Dogs (www.vetdogs.org) or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (www.arl-iowa.org).
