Obituary

Jeanne Julia Studer

Des Moines - Jeanne Julia Studer, 91, passed away peacefully July 11, 2021 at Scottish Rite Park Health Care Center in Des Moines.

Jeanne was born February 4, 1930 to Norwood and Marie (Banning) Norman in Des Moines. After Norwood's death from tuberculosis contracted in the service, Marie married Joseph Smith who, along with Norwood's brother and wife, Clarence and Olive, helped raise Jeanne and her sister, Mary. Jeanne graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended classes at Drake University before marrying Donald Max Studer with whom she had 5 children. In addition to raising all these kids and keeping a wonderful home, Jeanne enjoyed working for Friends of Iowa Public Television and the State of Iowa before her retirement.

Jeanne loved the outdoors, embraced trying a new game, and was always thankful to have joined in on adventures. She had a positive demeanor, a good sense of humor, and a solid work ethic. She was a real survivor and never complained. She enjoyed bridge, water exercise, walking, bicycling, skiing, playing the piano, reading, watching family members' activities, decorating for holidays and the change of seasons, and getting together with neighbors, family, and friends. She consistently demonstrated unconditional love and forgiveness.

Jeanne moved to her apartment at Scottish Rite Park in 2012. She kept very busy with all the wonderful activities offered and made many friends there over these last years. Jeanne's family wishes to thank Yvonne Rosenberg and all of the Health Care Center staff for their loving and attentive care this past year. John and Joe in SRP activities helped make each day super fun and special! Thank you also to Dr. Megan Romine for her care of Jeanne.

Along with her parents and other family and friends, Jeanne is predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Madeline Globe. Jeanne is survived by her children, Dave (Grace) of Keokuk, Dennis of West Des Moines, Susan (Alden) Globe of Steamboat Springs, CO, Sally (Craig Anderson) of West Des Moines, Max (Kathleen Moench) of Johnston; grandchildren, Paul and Sean Studer, Jeana (Simon) Barcelona, Nick (Alie) Studer, Samantha (Gino) Chesini, Olivia Studer; and great-grandchildren, Josephine and Ruth Barcelona, Emberlie Studer, and Amelia Chesini. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Mary Adkins of Olathe, KS, nephew, John (Donna) Adkins, and niece, Annie (Bob) Billings.

Jeanne donated her body for medical studies at Des Moines University. A Celebration of Jeanne's Life will be held at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm with visitation starting at 3:00.
