Catron Rites in Missouri
Columbia, MO. (Special Dispatch to The Register) – Services for Damon V. Catron, 52, chairman of the Food Science and Nutrition Department at the University of Missouri in Columbia, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Memorial Funeral Home here.
Dr. Catron, who was dead on arrival Saturday at a Columbia hospital after a heart attack, formerly was a professor of animal science at Iowa State University, Ames, serving on the faculty from 1945 to 1960, and vice-president for research and marketing of Walnut Grove Products, Atlantic, Ia., from 1960 to 1964. Then he directed the Life Science Division of the Washington Research Center of Walnut Grove’s parent company, W. R. Grace and Co., at Clarksville, Md., until he came to Missouri last December.
He received his doctor of philosophy degree from Iowa State in 1948.
Surviving are his wife, a son and two daughters from a previous marriage; a stepson; a brother, and a sister.
