Ema Cardenas passed away unexpectedly on April 28th, 2022, a victim of a tragic hit and run accident while walking home from school.

Ema was welcomed into this world on May 7th, 2007 in Des Moines, IA. To know Ema, was to love Ema. She was always smiling, and had a sweet, bubbly disposition. Children knew her well because she spoke often to them or played with them.... especially when she brought her little brother down to Children’s Church at Calvary Apostolic Church, where she attended with her family. She participated in Bible Quizzing when she was younger, attended church camp, was a part of Youth Group at church and a member of Barbell Club at East High School, where she was a freshman.

She loved animals, particularly the calves and piglets on her Uncle’s farm while growing up. Ema was very excited about her upcoming quienceañera and spoke of it often....which was supposed to take place on May 7th, 2022, her 15th birthday.

She always had a smile on her face, and many said she had the best laugh.

Ema is survived by her Father, Alejandro Cardenas, her mother, Anna Campos (Juan), her siblings, Salvador Landeros, Marixsa Landeros, Samantha Aguilera, Alexa Aguilera, Nayelli Sandoval & Luca Aarush Campos.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 5th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A private funeral will be held on Friday, May 6th at Calvary Apostolic Church, with graveside service to follow. Livestream will be available below.

The family requests that white, green, or gold be worn to the service in honor of Ema.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Apostolic Church's Children/Youth Camp Scholarship Fund.
