Nancy Lee Thomas, 68, of Runnells went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 13, 2021 in Des Moines. A Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, October 21 at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am Friday, October 22 at New Hope Assembly of God in Urbandale. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestream through the church's website at https://newhopeassembly.org/ .
Nancy was born in Des Moines, to Wayne and Doris McGinnis on April 27, 1953. She graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1971. She married Randy Thomas on November 12, 1971 in Des Moines. She worked as an Administrative Assistant and after 21 years retired from the Des Moines Register as newspaper carrier. She was involved with Operation Christmas Child, was a member at New Hope Assembly of God and enjoyed being a youth leader, singing in the choir and most of all being a Mom and Grandma.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years, 11 months and 1 day Randy; her son, John (Beth) Thomas of Runnells; daughter, Jamie Jo Thomas of Runnells; and grandsons, Noah, Abraham and Joel; as well as her siblings, Kathy (Steve) Huffman, Steven McGinnis, Carol Benjamin; and Danny McGinnis; brother-in-law, Ray (Debbie) Thomas, and many many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her infant son, James; parents, Wayne and Doris McGinnis; in-laws, Albert 'Tommy' and Evelyn Thomas; brother, Mike McGinnis and nephews, Mikey McGinnis and Teddy McGinnis.
