Omar Dee Pottorff, 86, of Urbandale, passed away on August 4, 2021 at the Perry Lutheran Home.

Omar was born in Grant City, Missouri to Brice Donahue and Edna (Lynch) Pottorff. He lived most of his life in and around the Des Moines area.

Omar was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He barbered for 62 years in the Des Moines area. He was known around town as the best flat top barber. He was a very kind and generous soul who was well respected by all of his peers. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Saline; his parents, Brice Pottorff and Edna Petersen; Son, Darby; grandson, Darby Jr.; son-in-law, Buddy Taylor; and step-father, Levi Petersen.

Omar is survived by his children, Debbie Taylor; Danny Pottorff, David Pottorff (Danny Doyle), Sam Pottorff, and Diana (Randy) Peel; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Linda) Pottorff; half-brothers, Bud Pottorff, and Curtis Pottorff; and half-sister, Mary Ann Sims.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:30 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held in the Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Omar.
