Eleanore Quick

Eleanore Quick passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was 95.

Frances Eleanore Meehan was born March 25, 1926 to James and Marie (Rudkin) Meehan in Madison, South Dakota. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in Madison, SD in 1944. Following graduation, Eleanore continued her education and attend St. Anthony School of Nursing in Rock Island, Illinois.

On December 27, 1948, Eleanore was united in marriage to W. David Quick in Rock Island, IL. The couple resided in the "Quad Cities" area and soon became loving parents to their two children, Bart and Mary Beth.

David's military career brought the family to Fort Sill, OK where Eleanore worked as a civilian nurse at the Reynolds Army Health Clinic. In 1963, the family moved to Des Moines, IA where Eleanore was a nursing instructor, teaching LPNs at Des Moines Area Community College. Eleanore retired after 25 years of dedicated service. In 1993, Eleanore and David moved to Sioux Falls where they enjoyed the remainder of their retirement.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Bart (Daette) Quick of West Des Moines, IA and daughter, Mary Beth (Anthony) Pigneri of Houston, TX; five cherished grandchildren and four dear great-grandchildren.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband, W. David Quick; and four sisters.

Memorial Mass was held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Holy Spirit Parish in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eleanore will be laid to rest with her late husband at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
