Brian Steven Boka WAUKEE, Iowa - Brian Steven Boka, 31, of Waukee, formerly of Muscatine, passed away unexpectedly January 17, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Patricia Willlie Offerman will be officiating as the celebrant. Private burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, Des Moines, and also from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brian's name may be directed to the Animal Lifeline of Iowa, 4521 SE 14th St., Des Moines, IA 50320 or at www.animal-lifeline.com . Brian was born on December 16, 1978, in Iowa City, the son of Steven and Diane Boka of Muscatine. He grew up in Muscatine and graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School, Letts, in 1997. In 2001 he graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, with a degree in corporate communications. He worked for ING in Des Moines. He married Wendy Cooper, his high school sweetheart, on June 19, 2004, at Simpson College. He and his wife shared their love and life together in Waukee. He loved music, travel, wine and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved animals and served on the board of directors for Animal Lifeline of Iowa, a no-kill shelter. He was outgoing, vivacious and a dear friend to so many. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Boka of Waukee, and their beloved cats, Picaboo and Ellie; his parents, Steven and Diane Boka of Muscatine; a brother, Jeremy Boka and wife, Mary, and their children, Lily and Lauren, of Altoona; his paternal grandparents, Virginia Boka of North Fort Myers, Florida, and Stanley Boka of Gainesville, Florida; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Catherine Bauer of Pocahontas; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rick and Deb Cooper of Letts; a sister-in-law, Laura Cooper of Letts; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.
