Maxine, 86, passed away January 6, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her family will greet friends 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, with a vigil service at 7:30 at Brooks South Town Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive.

Maxine Marie Kern, daughter of Francis and Frances (Hurley) Cole, was born December 22, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Edward Kern on April 7, 1947, and this union was blessed with four children. Maxine liked to read, do crafts, and travel. She was an active volunteer at Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward on June 7, 1984; and her brother.

Those left to remember Maxine are her children: Cole (Carol), Colette, Chris (Deb), and Craig (Cheryl); eight grandchildren: Christine, Chris, David, Tonya, Kristen, Cassandra, Kort and Clay; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter.
