ALBERT 'AL' SANKEY, JR. OBITUARY
February 4, 1946 - April 29, 2011
Born in Marion, Iowa
Resided in Urbandale, IA

Al Sankey, 65, a longtime resident of Urbandale died at his home on April 29 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel with burial at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery.

Al was born in Marion, Iowa to Albert and Sylvia (Chesmore) Sankey. He moved to Des Moines at 14 and graduated from East High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After earning an AA from DMACC, Al worked at local companies before consulting in Fort Worth; Marshalltown, Iowa and Omaha. Al started Application Design Services in 1995 and continued to operate it after he retired from day-to-day IT consulting in 2009 at the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Al enjoyed golf, sports cars and watching daughter, Marissa play softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Kelly; daughters, Marissa Sankey of Urbandale and Cheri Roberts (Sean) of Ankeny; grandsons, Kyle Roberts and Casey Roberts, both of Ankeny; siblings, Jim, Walt, Barb and Mary; and many numerous brothers-and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be 5-7pm, Tuesday, May 3, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel.
