Phyllis (Mrs. John “Clem”) Goodall, 89, of DeWitt, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Phyllis was born Jan. 9, 1931, to Dale and Margaret (Hannasch) Pollock in Des Moines. After graduating from Boone High School, she attended the University of Iowa, receiving certification as an X-Ray technician. She worked for Jackson County Public Hospital for several years. Phyllis was united in marriage to John Clement “Clem” Goodall on Aug. 6, 1955, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. The couple settled on the family farm near DeWitt, where she actively helped with all aspects of farm life and raised six children. Clem preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2011.

Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, active in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Prayer Shawl group. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, garden, and spend time with her family. She was a prolific afghan maker, giving one to each grandchild on their 13th birthday and wedding day, and continuing with her great-grandchildren at their birth.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Terry) Goodall, DeWitt, Debora Goodall (Harry DeBourcy), Davenport, Cathleen (Mark) Carton, Davenport, James (Lynn) Goodall, DeWitt, Thomas (Laura) Goodall, DeWitt, Patricia (Bill) Urmie, Bennett; grandchildren, Tyler Goodall and Megan Govier, Kimberly Forseth, Christopher Carton, and Benjamin Carton, Curtis Goodall, Hillary Mosier, and Kaitlin Goodall, Andrew Goodall and Adam Goodall, and Rita Urmie and Keith Urmie; eight great-grandchildren, Ella, Harrison, Chloe, Carson, Macy, Liam, Henry, and Molly, and two more on the way; a brother, Willis Pollock, Beloit, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Pollock.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School, DeWitt, or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Westwing Place, DeWitt, and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the loving care they provided Phyllis.
