Joseph Francis Lavia, 68, of 4610 Douglas Ave. died of pneumonia Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Merle Hay Funeral Home, and a Masonic service will follow the funeral services. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Lavia, a lifelong Des Moines resident was retired from Siding US Lumber and Supply; was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Ancient Craft Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by a son, Dennis Joe of Prole; a daughter, Katrena Lavia of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a brother, Frank of Des Moines and two grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dialysis Center.
