Marjorie Elizabeth Tingle “Beth” was born February 8, 1935 in Harrison County, Missouri. She passed from her earthly life April 17, 2018, Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Beth was the second of eight children of her parents, Velma Moss and Luther Snethen. Beth grew up near the Iowa-Missouri border and graduated from Lamoni High School. June 17, 1953, Beth married Shelby McDaniel. They had two daughters and one son. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1962. It was there that Beth received her degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Shelby passed away in 1989.

Beth’s faith in God never wavered throughout all of the challenges that life gave her. She was baptized in 1947 into the Community of Christ church. Beth was ordained to the priesthood office of Teacher August 26, 2001. On that day, she met Jim Tingle. It wasn’t long and they knew they were in love and would spend their life together. They have been married since December 4, 2004.

Beth’s passions included serving God, her family, nursing, raising flowers, traveling, and helping others. She was Grams to her grandchildren and GG to her great-grandchildren. She was a typical grandmother who allowed her grandchildren to eat whatever they wanted! In the latter years, she could remember the words to songs when she couldn’t remember much else. “Jesus Loves Me” was her favorite.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers – Robert Snethen in 1968 and Luther Snethen, Jr. in 1989, and a granddaughter, Michele McDaniel Woods in 2016. She is survived by her husband, James Tingle, of the home; her children, Constance McDaniel Hall, West Des Moines, Iowa and Sherry McClain, Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Tesse Owens, Independence, Missouri, Phyllis (Robert) Durbin, Des Moines, Iowa, and Joann (Larry) Konopasek, Warsaw, Missouri; two brothers, Paul (Linda) Snethen, Des Moines, Iowa, and Kenneth (Janet) Snethen, Norman, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Robert Hill, Independence, Missouri, Annette (Marvin) Lutz, Blue Springs, Missouri, Nathan (Alicia) McDaniel, Kingman, Arizona, Valorie (Brian) Shepard, Kingsville, Missouri, James (Shaila) Bowles, Turlock, California, David Bowles, Des Moines, Iowa, Darrell (Natalie) Bowles, Kansas City, Missouri, Daphne (Christopher) Healy, Yuma, Arizona, and Samuel McClain, Des Moines, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; step children, Sheila Miller and family, Runnells, Iowa, Sheri Tingle, Nashville, Tennessee, and Bryan Tingle and family, Runnells, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Des Moines Central Congregation of the Community of Christ, 1645 Pennsylvania Ave, Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Family visitation will be at 1:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM. Following the service, the family requests that family and friends gather to visit and share “Beth” stories while enjoying dessert. Beth’s gravestone is at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Community of Christ or to your local charities that benefit the well-being of children and/or victims services.
