Belva D. (Carrel) Barnes passed away September 18, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. To honor her wishes, she was cremated and graveside services will be on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born January 1, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Golda Carrel. She attended a country school between Woodward and Madrid, and then attended Ogden, Iowa high school. She married Everett Skoglund in 1944 and they had a daughter, Tammy and a son, Guy; both who passed away in infancy. They later divorced.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marlin; niece, Cheryle Carrel; husbands, Everett Skoglund, Paul Metcalf, and Charles Barnes.

Belva is survived by her sister, Lorna Fogue; niece Vickie Fogue; and nephews, Ralph and Rick Fogue; and many friends.

She was a member of The Red Hat Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 109, and Christ Lutheran Church. Following the graveside service a lunch will be served at The Eagles Lodge 109, 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, Iowa.
