Joe Carter, 81, passed from this life on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 27, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Joe was born on May 6, 1931, in Des Moines, attended East High School, and retired from Meredith-Burda.

Joe is survived by his wife of 41 years, Inez; three sons, Doug and Nick of Des Moines and Tim (Kathy) of Arizona; grandson, Joseph C. (Ashley) Carter and great-granddaughter, Margaret Ann Carter all of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mabel Carter, daughter, Nancy Carter, and his brothers, James and Jack.
