Resided in Urbandale, IA

After a long courageous battle with cancer, Dennis L. Massier, passed away at home on September 10, 2012.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilhelmine Massier and his parents –in-law, Theodore and Bergthora Urry. He is survived by his wife, Beverley; sons, Todd of West Des Moines and Timothy (Kathy) of Des Moines; daughter, Sherilee of West Des Moines; granddaughters, Grace and Zoe; sister, Donna (Al) Pellrene of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law, Linda Urry of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Urry of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; family friend, Marion Wakefield of Yukon, Canada; nieces and nephews, Raye Davies and Doug (Elaine) Davies of Saskatoon, Sask., Scott (Stephanie) Urry of Port Perry, Ontario and J.P. Urry of Toronto, Canada; grand nieces and nephews, Nicole, Liam and Jordan Urry and Chad and Drake Davies; and aunts, Frieda Lauridsen, Hilda Gaschler, Emma Hodel, Kay Hodel and Marie-Anne Hodel all of Canada.

Dennis was born and educated on the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada. He began working for J.I. Case in 1966 in Regina, Sask, moving to Humboldt, Sask., and finally Des Moines, Iowa.

His greatest life's enjoyments were spending time at the rink watching his boys play hockey, his daughter figure skating and his grandchildren figure skating. Dennis was a dedicated Saskatchewan RoughRider Football fan and upon moving to the U.S.A., became an Iowa Hawkeye and Green Bay Packer Fan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lair, Dr. Rice, Dr. Franko and the Mercy Health Care Team for their compassion and care. The family would also like to thank Mary Kersey, Jim and Mary Jo Dressen, Kevin and Jo Henry, Michelle and Nick Crow, Amy and Jason Nickel, Jason Menke and The Rueters Family for all of their support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes – Dunn's Chapel. ~ The Iles Funeral Homes, Dunn's Chapel, 14 Sept 2012.
