Jeanne Johnson (1919 - 2012)

Jeanne Adel (Vorhees) Johnson, 93, passed away September 12, 2012 at Luther Park. A private family service is planned.

Jeanne was born June 9, 1919 in Zearing, Iowa to Arthur and Marie Vorhees. She married Arthur B. Johnson and they made their home in Des Moines, where she spent many years as a homemaker and raised her two sons. She then worked for AAA Travel and as a receptionist for Merrill Lynch.

Jeanne was a member of PEO, the Des Moines Club, the Des Moines Woman's Club, and Wakonda Club. She was active in her church community, first at St. John's Lutheran and then at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Jeanne was an avid volunteer, spending much of her time at her church and the Agape Pregnancy Center. She enjoyed golfing and traveling with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Ann) Johnson and Chris (Katherine) Johnson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Arthur B. Johnson, her parents, and sister, Margaret (Vorhees) Lynn.
