EDWARD MORROW POWELL

Edward Morrow Powell, 81, passed away July 26, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Ed lost his courageous battle with emphysema peacefully at his home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home with burial at Linn Grove Cemetery in Norwalk, IA.

Edward was born December 19, 1923 in Monticello, KY. He lived in Kellogg, IA about 20 years and lived the rest of his life in Des Moines. He was a foreman at United Brick and Tile for 20 years, then went into his own trucking business the last 40 years. He loved to coon hunt, fish and drive his dump trucks, but most of all he loved to be with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Kingsway Cathedral and drove a Sunday school bus that brought in many children. The love for children and his trucks were his whole life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Osha Powell and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Rouse) Powell; ten children, Gary (Sharon) Edward W., Errond (Rachel), Peggy Knight ("The Boy"), Deloris Chiles "Deceased," Bette Jo (Scott) Browning, H. Bobbie Jo, Jennifer (Lindsey), Selena and Pennie Raye Powell; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a niece whom he was very fond of, Connie (Rick) Langford.

Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Hamilton's Funeral Home.
