Ruby M. Kent, 79, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 10, 2012.

Ruby was born June 24, 1933 in Derby, Iowa to Richard and Gladys (Tickle) Elwood. Ruby retired from Farmland Insurance in 1996. She was an avid bowler, loved traveling, spending time with her family and friends.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dwight Kent; children: Becky (Larry) Krouch, Carole Craft and Brian (Julie) Kent; grandchildren: Brandon (Tiffany) Krouch, Lindsay Krouch, Kyle Craft, Steven Kent and Shaun Kent; and great-grandchildren: Madison and Tyler Krouch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and daughter, Diana.

Ruby's funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, September 14 at Brooks South Town Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the chapel.
