Services for Charles S. (Chuck) Blake held Monday, Feb. 1st

Funeral services for Charles S. (Chuck) Blake were held Monday morning, February 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Laurens. Mr. Blake passed away Saturday. January 30 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, Pocahontas, Iowa. Reverend Roy Lewis officiated at the service. Organist was Barb Wallin & soloist was Maureen Luchsinger. Pallbearers were Larry Wicker. Dennis Rigby. Allan Rigby, David Faulkner, Kevin Rigby. & Bobby Faulkner. Interment was In the Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, with Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Obituary

Charles Samuel Blake, son of Alfred J. & Elizabeth Williams Blake, was born January 23, 1917, in Madrid, Iowa. He passed away on January 30, 1993, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, Pocahontas, Iowa, at the age of 76 years and 7 days.

Charles grew- up around the Polk County area & attended schools there through the 11th grade. He was employed at one time by the Sargent Feed Company in Des Moines, before coming to the Laurens area. He worked on various farms in this area, before becoming employed by the C.I. Hersom Construction Co. In about 1944 & worked there until his retirement in 1980. He was united in marriage to Viola L. Faulkner on December 29. 1938 at Lewiston. Missouri. They spent most of their married life in Laurens. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Laurens.

Survivors include his wife. Viola; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Karen) Baumunk, of Elizabeth. Arkansas; &. Mrs. Larry (Sonja) Perkins, of Laurens: five grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; and two brothers. Robert Blake & John Blake, both of Golden, Missouri; & two sisters, Dorothy Wicker of Grimes, Iowa, & Mildred Rigby of Laurens. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents & one sister. Virginia.
