Delmar Schoon

Rites Funeral services for Delmar Schoon, 36, were held Sunday afternoon, April 26, In St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer. Pastor Richard Buchholz officiated at the services. Mrs. Marlin Meppen was organist and the men's chorus furnished the music. Pallbearers were Leo Olson, Dean Schoon, Harold Meyer, Harian Peters, Franklin Fischer and Darrell Poppinga. Interment was in the St Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Delmar Lee Schoon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schoon. was born August 22, 1933, at Palmer. He was baptized September 11.1933, at St Paul Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the in the Evangelical Lutheran faith March 32, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Palmer.

He was united in marriage to Colleen Armstrong at Canton, S.D., on December 19, 1955, and they had four children.

He lived his entire life hi the Palmer community. He served his country in the United States Navy in 1956 and 1957. He was employed by Geo. A. Hormell Co., Fort Dodge, for 14 years. He had been in failing health since 1966. On March 9, 1970, he entered the University Hospitals at Iowa City. It was here where he died Thursday morning, April 23.

He was preceded in death by one brother, who died in infancy.

Survivors are his wife, Colleen; daughter, Debbie; sons, Donald, Billy and Terry, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schoon, Palmer; three sisters, (Bernice) Mrs. Elmer Beekman, Pocahontas, (Deloras) Mrs. George Beekman, Pocahontas, (Marilyn) Mrs. Eldon Peterson, Palmer.
