GEORGE TUTTLE

Funeral services were held for George C Tuttle last Friday afternoon, June 7. Short services were held at the home at 2 o'clock and a the Presbyterian church in Pocahontas at 2:30. Rev. W. W. Rothwell of Auburn, a former pastor of the Pocahontas church preached the sermon. Music was furnished by the male quartet from the Christian church of Laurens composed of Harry Lund, E. A. Larson, Veston Moor and Don Neville, with Mrs. Mae Clanton at the piano.

Burial was in the family lot in the Laurens cemetery beside two sons who had preceded him in death. The pall bearers were Dr. A. Morton, B, A. Hakes, D. J . Hurley, Edw. Dwyer, H. L, Warne and W. J . Allen. The honorary pall bearers were Geo. Peters, Sr., George Alig, C, A. Schott, J, D. Quinn, C. W. Gilchrist and Adolph Schreyer.

Mr. Tuttle was born at Norway, this state, January 24, 1866, and at the time of his death had passed his 74th birthday, He came to Laurens soon after the town was started and had been a familiar figure here for more than 50,years. He was in and out of town all these years until his last illness confined him to his bed some six months ago. While the family lived upon a farm he spent most of his time in town following his trade of plumbing.

October 23, 1890 he was married to Esther Ann Hawley who still survives him. Besides the wife he leaves three sons, G, N. and Douglas of Pocahontas and F . W. Tuttle of Ware; four daughters, Mrs. L. C. Krug and Mrs. W. W. Anderson of Pocahontas, Mrs W. H Reimeirs and Mrs. Enoch Johnson of Remsen. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Linn Conklin and Mrs. Delia Sidles of Estherville; three brothers, Harm, Tuttle of Faribault, Minnesota, Henry Tuttle and William Tuttle of Calumet, Indiana.
