ESTEEMED AKRON RESIDENT DIES

Rites Are Held Last Wednesday Afternoon For Mrs. Iva Port Mrs. Iva Port

Mrs. Iva Port, a resident of western Plymouth County, where she had resided for nearly sixty years, passed away at the Akron Community Hospital at 0:45 o'clock Sunday morning, September 23, 1951, following a brief illness, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Iva Myrtle Wells was born January 1, 1871, daughter of Addison and Sarah Wells, in Monroe, Greene County, Wisconsin. On December 22, 1892, she was united in marriage with Harry H. Port, at Le Mars, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union: Roy, now of Englewood, Calif., and Alva and Fay, both of Akron.

She was baptized into .the Methodist faith and has been a faithful member of the Methodist church since 1916.

She was preceded in death by her husband on January 18, 1949.

Besides her sons, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Morten and Mrs. Ida Bechtolt, of Monroe, Wisconsin; also by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and neighbors. The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to these relatives in the loss of a kind and devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 26, at 2:00 p. m. in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H. Myron Braun. Hymns were sung by a male quartet comprised of J.R. Shoulherg, Gail Hemmingsen, Karl Silkebakken and Arden Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Nelson. The pallbearers were: John Melnnis, Jim Boetger,. Fred Lucken, Ed. H. Willer, Art Hasenbank and Clare (Continued on last page)-(last page) Morehead. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. Isa Bechtolt and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Roth of Monroe, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Folan of Kimball, S.D.; Mrs. B.J. Koehler and Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Folan of Plankinton, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Winersteen, of Hartford, S.D.; and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Port, of Sioux City.
