Glenda Kay Koerselman was born May 26, 1938 in Middleburg, IA, the daughter of Dick and Irene (Stoker) Koerselman.

She was united in marriage to Peter “Pete” Haverhals on June 21, 1957 in Middleburg. The couple made their home in Le Mars. Glenda was a homemaker for her family. Later on, she worked as the activities director at Life Skills in Le Mars until her retirement. Pete passed away July 26, 1994.

Glenda will be remembered for her great sense of humor, having found humor in everything in life. She was friendly and outgoing with the gift of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere. If you were in a room with her you could count on having plenty of laughs. Glenda was that person once you met her you would not forget her. You were blessed if you could count her as a friend.

Glenda liked country music (especially Willie Nelson), playing her organ, eating out, adult coloring, crocheting and sewing, having made numerous baby blankets, keeping files of newspaper clippings, her dogs, her hats, and coffee with friends. She took pleasure in doing art and crafts of all kinds and was "dangerous" with a glue gun in her hand. As a fan of gadgets advertised on tv, Glenda often ordered them. Most were not that great.

Glenda was a great cook and managed to convince the neighborhood kids in "Gopher Town" (housing area west of Le Mars) that she made the Oreo cookies she served them.

She was thrilled each time a new great-grandchild arrived and posted pictures of them on her frig. Family was everything to her.
Survivors include her two sons: Mike (Brenda) Haverhals of Le Mars and Kelly Haverhals (Shanna Lalley) of Winter Park, CO; 5 grandchildren: Mindy (Ryan) Roline of Kuna, ID, and their son, Shay; Katie (Timmy) Cohrs of Kuna, ID, and their son, Bryce; Brenda Crabtree-Bennett (Terence) of Benicia, CA, and their children, Ari and Lee; Dale Crabtree of Des Moines, IA; and Amanda (Tyler) Petter of Fargo, ND, and their children, Estelle and Conrad; a special friend, Dale Cook of Le Mars and his family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Dick and Irene (Stoker) Koerselman; her husband, Peter Haverhals; and her brother, Dick Koerselman.

She was definitely ONE a kind who marched to the beat of her own drummer. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. RIP Glenda.
