Obituary:
Louise C. Kruse, 94, of LeMars, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1995, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Louise Catherine Ahrendt was born Feb. 17, 1900 in Grant Township, Plymouth County, the daughter of Carl J. and Elizabeth Catherine (Westhoff) Ahrendt. She attended rural school.

In October 1911, the family moved to Lodi, Calif., returning to LeMars and the family farm in Grant Township in January 1914. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township.

She married Harm D. Kruse on June 12, 1927, at her parents’ home. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Washington Township. They retired on the farm and later moved to LeMars in 1979. Harm Kruse died Jan. 14, 1986. She had been a resident at Brentwood since February 1991.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Akron, and the Women of the ELCA, where she was the second oldest member.

Survivors include one daughter, Lauretta VanBuskirk, of LeMars; two sons, Leonard Kruse and his wife Charlotte, and Charles Kruse, all of LeMars; two sisters, Ida Petersen of LeMars and Bertha Waldum of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Beverly VanBuskirk of LeMars, Tim Kruse and his wife, Sherry of Merrill, and Linda Oxley and her husband, Mike, of DesMoines.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Binneboese and Sophia Zieger; two brothers, Herbert in childhood and Carl W. Ahrendt; and a great-granddaughter, Lynnae Marie Kruse.

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday), Jan. 9, 1995, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with the Rev. Stephany Sanborn officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
