Betty Rolfes, 83, of Le Mars, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at her home near Le Mars.

Betty Ann Schroeder was born Aug. 15, 1937, southeast of Le Mars, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Wengler) Schroeder. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School.

She was united in marriage to Andrew Rolfes on Jan. 17, 1956, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Betty was a homemaker for her family. After Andrew died on March 2, 1995, Betty worked part time at Taco John’s in Le Mars. She also assisted with the Trades and Industry program at Le Mars Community School and worked for Coastal Mart in Le Mars.

Betty enjoyed collecting dolls, baking, and sewing quilts. She enjoyed her annual trip with her Tom every summer and her fishing trip with her son Cubby. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family.

Survivors include three sons: Richard (Janice) Rolfes of Merrill, Bill Rolfes of Le Mars, and Tom (Julie) Rolfes of Carpenter; three daughters: Jeanette (Dan) Dembinski of Le Mars, Cindy Van Der Weide of Le Mars, and Carol (Sam) Wood of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Schroeder; her husband, Andrew Rolfes; her son, Kevin “Cubby” Rolfes; a grandson, A.J. Rolfes; three sisters, Bernice, Mabel, and Mary; and four brothers, Harm, Lawrence, John W., and John J.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Mike Hulinsky from the Le Mars Bible Church will officiate. Social distancing will be required. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars.

Visitation, with the family present and practicing social distancing, will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.
