Note: His last name is actually Mackay but I left the obituary as it was for family doing research so it would be easier to find for those doing family searching. Often, especially in older newspapers names are misspelled. His year of birth is listed as 1886 on his gravestone.

Note: His first wife's maiden name is Stauffer and her first married name was Milton. His second wife's maiden Gerdes and her first married named is McKettrick.

MACRAY—Philip John Macray, 62, of 2823 South St., died April 20 in a Long Beach hospital. He was born in England, came to the United States in 1918 and located in Kingsley, Iowa, and moved to California and Long Beach in 1939. He was a retired landscape gardener, and a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are the widow, Anna; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Meistler (actually Meister) of Kingsley, Iowa; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ma. A. Dent Compton, and Louis Shutt of Long Beach;; a son, Donald Macray of Remsen, Iowa, and a son Melvin, missing in action in World War II; stepsons, Thomas McKettrick, Long Beach; Charles McKettrick, Bellflower; James and William McKettrick of Sioux City, Iowa.

Service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Motell’s Mortuary, Rev. Frederick Augustus Martyr of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Park.
