WIFE OF MERRILL RESIDENT CALLED

Mrs. C. F. Norton Laid to Rest in Merrill Sunday afternoon—48 Years Old

Elizabeth Louise Wilhelmina Norton, wife of C. L. Norton of Merrill died early Friday morning at the age of 48 years, 7 months and 22 days. Hardening of the arteries caused her death.

Funeral services were held from the Lutheran church in Merrill, Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Merrill cemetery, Beely’s funeral directors in charge.

Mrs. Norton was the daughter William LaBahn, of Merrill, and was born in LeMars on March 1, 1883. She lived in this community her whole life, and her many friends extend their sympathy to the husband and family.

Well Known Merrill Woman Dies After Three Days Illness

FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. C. T. Norton Was Member of Pioneer Family

Mrs. Elizabeth Norton, wife of Clarence T. Norton, well known business man of Merrill, died Friday morning, October 23, at her home in that city. Mrs. Norton had been in failing health for a year but her condition did not cause alarm until three days before her death when she was taken seriously ill.

Her death came as a great shock to her many friends.

Mrs. Norton was a lifelong resident of Plymouth county. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Louise Wilhelmina LaBahn and she was born in Le Mars March 1, 1883. Her parents moved t Johnson county when she was a girl and she grew to womanhood in that neighborhood and attended the rural schools. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Johnson township, being confirmed a member of the church in girlhood.

She was united in marriage October 24, 1902, with Clarence T. Norton and they engaged in farming in Johnson township after their marriage, continuing to live on the farm until 1918 when they moved into Merrill where Mr. Norton engaged in the garage business.

Leaves Many Relatives

Mrs. Norton leaves to mourn her death, her husband, C. T. Norton, a daughter, Mrs. Edna Jensen, and granddaughter, of Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Clara Attrill, of Merrill, and seven brothers, William, Fred, Edward and Alfred LaBahn, of Merrill; Walter, of Dension; Louis and Frank La Bahn, living in South Dakota.

The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and neighbors, who gathered to show respect to an old friend and companion. Mrs. Norton was esteemed by all who knew her in the community where she lived her life.
