Note: His mother's maiden name was Bick. He was married to two women by the last name of Hamilton so I listed it twice. His second wife's maiden name was Alderson. **Correction made -- His first wife's maiden name was Labahn, not Hamilton.

CLARENCE NORTON OF MERRILL DEAD; FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

Clarence T. Norton, 84, died unexpected Sunday at his home in Merrill. He had been in ailing health for several weeks.

He had been a mechanic and garage operator at Merrill since moving there in 1918. He was born Oct. 7, 1880, in Plymouth county.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Merrill Methodist church, with Rev. W. M. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Merrill.

Friends may call at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before service time.

He was married to Elizabeth Hamilton (correction- Elizabeth Labahn) Oct. 24, 1902. She died in 1931. Mr. Norton and Daisey Hamilton were married, Sept. 26, 1940, at Dakota City, Neb., and she died Oct. 23, 1953.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edna Jansen of Merrill; seven step-children, James Wesley and Wayne Hamilton, all of Merrill, Mrs. Franklin Ferguson of State College, Pa., Mr. Ruth Holtzen of Sioux City and Mrs. Harold Rath and Mrs. Lyman Clark, both of Hinton; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and a brother Egbert Norton of Le Mars.

A daughter Mrs. Veo Doroughty, preceded him in death.
