Leonard Schmidt

Leonard Arthur Schmidt, 49, lifelong Plymouth county resident died unexpectedly Wednesday night at Floyd Valley hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Mr. Schmidt was born Nov. 13, 1919, near Craig the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schmidt. He farmed at the edge of Craig. His marriage to Marian Brunken took place Aug. 29, 1946, in Le Mars. He was a member of St. John American Lutheran church, Craig, and was a long-time choir member there. He was also a member of the American Lutheran Church Men.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John American Lutheran church, Craig. Rev. Ernest Christensen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Marian; a daughter, Mrs. James (Joyce) Brownmiller; three sons, Russell, Gary and Mark at home; a brother, Clarence Schmidt, rural Ireton, and a sister, Mrs. Ralph Rossum, Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents.
