FAMILY FURNISHES COMPLETE OBITUARY FOR EDWARD JOHNSON
(Although the obituary of Edward Johnson was previously printed in the Daily Sentinel, the family requested the following to be printed.)

Edward John Johnson was born Oct. 15, 1882, to Henry and Helena (Rollapp) Johnson of Sterling, Ill.

The family moved to this community, to a farm one mile south and 2 1/2 miles west of LeMars. They became members of Christ Lutheran church of Grant township and there he was instructed in the Lutheran faith and confirmed on May 29, 1896. He remained at home until his marriage to Gesina Tjorks, Jan 23, 1909, at Anchor, Ill. The couple went into business at Mammen where they conducted a retail merchandise store in that village, later moving to Brunsville in 1910. There he conducted the same type business until 1933 at the same time of his wife's death.

The family then lived for two years in Holstein and after that returned to farm 2 miles south of Grant church until 1955 when he moved to his present home. He and his family were members of Christ Lutheran Church in Grant township until he helped organize St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville in 1917, to which congregation he belonged the rest of his life. Mr. Johnson enjoyed good health during most of his life and spent his free time doing all types of carpenter work. He became ill about two months ago and was hospitalized at that time. His death came unexpectedly May 7, at the age of 84.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Henry; three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by four children, Elmer of Cherokee; Mrs. Fred (Marie) Elsen of Le Mars; Mrs. Eldon (Helen) Jensen and Harvey both of Holstein. Also, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 10, at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant township, with Rev. D. D. Mueller, the pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Johnson, Eddie Johnson, William Johnson, Donald Diediker, Jack Borchers and Edward Borchers, all nephews.

Relatives who came from Gibson City, Illinois, were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tjorks; from Sibley, Mrs. Etta Beck, and Fred Tjorks, and from Saybrook, Ill., George Tjork.
