Obituary for Marjorie Stewart

Marjorie A. Stewart, 90, of Kingsley passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Johnson – Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Marjorie Ann Stewart, the daughter of Theodore Daniel and Helen B. (Martin) Clark, was born on November 17, 1926 at her Grandma Martin’s house in Kingsley, Iowa. Her family moved to Cherokee, Iowa where she attended school.

On May 4, 1945, Marjorie and James W. Stewart were united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Gloria, Barbara and Wayne. The couple made their home in Cherokee, Iowa where they owned and operated a dairy. Marjorie also worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee for many years. They later moved to Moville, Iowa and owned operated Jim’s Grocery Store.

Marjorie and Jim enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Texas and Arizona. They also had a home in Dubois, Wyoming for five years before returning to Kingsley to care for Marjorie’s mother. She took a position at Scootch’s where she enjoyed visiting with people.

Marjorie was a former member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee where she was baptized and confirmed. She was currently a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church where she participated in Circle. Marjorie was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. Along with traveling, Marjorie and Jim enjoyed camping, walking and spending time with their grandchildren. In later years she volunteered her time at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gloria and Stan Flewelling of Moville, IA, Barbara Butters of Loveland, CO and Wayne Stewart of Kingsley, IA; eight grandchildren, Brent Flewelling, Tina Flewelling, Holly (Derek) Sobelman, Jaydee Wahlberg, Jamie (Anthony) Salzar, Jebb Stewart, Jacob (Vicki) Stewart and Kylee Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren, Angelique Jayd Salazar, Ariana Ann Salazar, Bella Nancy Salazar, Maia Justice Salazar, Giovani Michael Salazar, Lucas Stewart, Landon Stewart, Logan Stewart, Chance Stewart, Izaiah Johnson, Hannah Stewart, Leah Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Samarah Stewart, Lyndzy Flewelling, Alyssa Sobelman and Caleb Sobelman; sisters, Della (Roydon) Rupp of Cherokee, IA, Merry Farley of Cherokee, IA and Betty Kolb of Holstein, IA, brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Clark of Cherokee, IA and Roy “Butch” (Karen) Clark of Edgewater, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; a great-grandson, Trevis Flewelling; two sisters, Joyce Clark and her husband, Donald and Janice Jensen and her husband Orlan; brothers-in-law, Kenny Brant, Denny Kolb and Gayle Farley.
