DEATH OF AKRON ‘WAR’ BABY’

Elbert, the 2-year-old son of Mrs. Olive Mills, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Port, at 421 Fawcett street, Sioux City, Iowa, last Friday, August 20, 1920, after a two weeks’ illness of pneumonia.

The baby was born in Akron after its father, Private Elbert Mills, had gone to France with the A. E. F., where he was killed in action shortly after he went to the front lines. A little over a year ago Mrs. Mills moved to Sioux City with her parents, where they have since resided.

Baby Elbert was growing into a bright and lovable childhood and was a great comfort to his war-stricken mother, so that his early demise was a hard and cruel blow to her. Mrs. Mills has the sympathy of many friends here in her bereavement.

Funeral services were held in the Akron M. E. church Sunday at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. M. E. Spahr. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives and friends who accompanied Mrs. Mills and the remains of her baby boy here from Sioux City Sunday were parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Port, and children, Mr. and Mrs. C. Howard, Mrs. John Tucker and sons, Mrs. Florence Stowers and Mrs. Henry Speulda.
