Early Settler In Akron Dies

Mrs. Zelda Pelroy Patterson, 80, a resident of Union county, South Dakota, the past ten years died recently. The Akron Register-Tribune has the following obituary:

“Zelda Trudeau was born in Canada, October 1, 1880, the daughter of Alfred and Philomene Trudeau. When she was a child she came with her parents to Union county. In 1881 she was united in marriage with Joseph Pelroy, establishing a home in Jefferson.

In 1886 they purchased a farm near Akron, Iowa, and made their home here until 1920, when they moved to Wagner, S. D. They remained there until the passing away of her husband twelve years ago. To this union were born five children, and there were three step-children, one preceding her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Patterson; three sons, Ira, Simon, and Fred Pelroy; four daughters, Kate Montagne, Tillie and Eda Warren and Mary Welch; two sisters, Rose Butler and Mrs. Barry; by 35 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
