Haley R. Hoffmeyer, the daughter of Carl Hoffmeyer, Jr and Julie (Helmich) Smith, was born on December 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. She was three and half months early and only weighed 1lb 10 oz, proving that she was a fighter from the start. The day she came home was one of the happiest days of her family’s lives. She had struggles from the beginning but continued to bring her family so much joy and laughter. She was diagnosed at a very young age with her ongoing battle with Cerebral Palsey due to her seizures. She passed away at the age of 29 years at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa on January 9, 2022.

Haley graduated from Bullard High School in Texas. She moved to Iowa two years ago. The most important things in Haley’s life were her children. She loved spending time with them and her entire family.

Left to cherish Haley's memory are her children, Chandler Witt, Zoey Davis, and Rodney Davis; her mother Julie Smith of Arnold’s Park, Iowa; her father Carl Hoffmeyer, Jr of Texarkana, Texas; her grandparents Carl and Sandy Hoffmeyer, Sr; her sisters Stephanie Baas of Spencer, Iowa, Amber Baas of Pocahontas, Iowa, Megan Moser of Algona, Iowa and Dara Kamstra of Spencer; her brothers TJ Hoffmeyer of Texarkana, Texas and Jessy Hoffmeyer of Texarkana, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her grandparent Don and Dorothy Helmich, her step-father Rodney D. Moser, and sister Jessica Ann Baas.

A funeral service was held Monday, January 17, 2022 at the United Methodist church in Graettinger.
