Clarence Alfred Hanson 1933-2021

Clarence Alfred Hanson, the son of Mandius and Johanna (Torkelson) Hanson, was born on January 10, 1933, in Rutland, Iowa. He passed away on May 29, 2021, at his home in Graettinger, Iowa at the age of 88 years.

He graduated from Bode Iowa High School before farming with his parents.

Clarence married Karla Schafer on August 14, 1962, at the St. Peter/Paul Church in West Bend, Iowa.

He farmed and worked at Concrete Products in Humboldt, Iowa and drove truck for many years. In 1975, the couple moved to rural Wallingford, Iowa where he was employed at Graettinger Block and Tile, Spencer Pack and Bobalee Hydraulics in Laurens, Iowa. He retired in 1998, after retirement he continued to farm for a local farmer until permanently retiring in 2010.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed any sporting events involving his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed being a handyman, helping kids, going to Wild Rose Casino, and attending auctions, and going to the sale barn in Spencer.

Left to cherish Clarence's memory is his wife, Karla Hanson, Graettinger; his children, Ron (Julie) Hanson, Rod (Robin) Hanson, Craig (Sue) Hanson, Brett (Ann) Hanson, and Darcey (Toby) Morris; his grandchildren, Kyle (Jordan) Hanson, Amber Hanson, Ryan (Stephanie) Hanson, Will Hanson, Conner Hanson, Tiffany Manwarren and Amanda Berger; Adam Hanson, Andrew (Kendra) Hanson, Austin Hanson; Kendra Hanson, Jeremiah (Rose) Mooney, Savannah Mooney; Taylor (Rylee) Morris, Jacob (Makenzie) Morris, Jordan (Andrew) Petersen, Ashley (Alex) Vust and 15 Great-Grandchildren. His siblings, Marie, Charlotte, Merle, and Clara.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Mandius & Johanna (Torkelson) Hanson; his siblings, Orville, Johnny, Eddie, Jeannette, and Arlene.

The funeral service was held Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Interment was at High Lake Cemetery, Wallingford.
