Ronald D. Glines, 53 of Windsor died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at University Hospital in Denver after complications from a brain aneurysm.
He was born Aug. 7 1948, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Eldon and Betty (Barragar) Glines.
On March 22, 1997, he married Janice E. (Manweiler) Anderson in Loveland, Co.
Mr. Glines lived in Clarinda; Odessa, Texas; and Exira, Iowa. He graduated from Exira High School in 1967. He entered the Navy in 1967 and served aboard the USS. Independence, where he worked as a parachute rigger. He also served in combat in Vietnam and had received the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. After he was honorably discharged in 1971, he returned to Iowa.
Mr. Glines came to Colorado in March 1996. He worked for Universal Forest Products in Windsor for four years, as well as Manweiler Hardware, also in Windsor, with his wife. In February, he began working for the Greeley Tribune as a district manager in circulation.
Brought up in the Lutheran faith, Mr. Glines attended church at Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold, Iowa.
An avid NASCAR die-cast collectibles and had a business in which he sold those items over the Internet. He loved history and enjoyed watching the History Channel on television. He enjoyed life and tried many things, including para-sailing, helicopter rides, hot air balloon rides and riding ATV's. He especially loved his cocker spaniel, "Bridget," that he adopted from a humane society.
Survivors are his wife, Janice Glines of Windsor; three daughters, Tina Arbuckle and husband Jr. of Anita, Iowa, Brenda Osborn of Griswold, Iowa, Tim Glines and wife Ruth of Walnut, Iowa and Jessica Smith and husband Mike of Elliott, Iowa. Step-daughter Heather Anthony and husband Rick of Windsor.
Mother Betty Erickson and step-father Earl Erickson both of Adel, Iowa, and Eldon Glines of Odessa, Texas.
Brother Gary Glines and wife Jonna of Shenandoah, Iowa, Sisters Dianna Davison and husband Chris of Braddyville, Iowa, Joyce Akers and husband Laverne of Mountain View, Arkansas, Half brother Jim Erickson and wife Sue of Atlantic, Iowa. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Dunn Funeral Home in Griswold, Iowa Sept. 14th. at 6:00 P. M.. Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold Sept. 15th. at 1:00 P. M..
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.
