Funeral Services for Early Sibley Resident To Be Held 1:30 p.m.

BARNEY GRAVES IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Mr.Barney Graves, a resident here for more than 60 years died Monday afternoon, September 27 at 5:21 p.m. at his home in Sibley.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Walton Funeral Home to the First Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the West Holman Cemetery. The Rev. Walter F. Morz will have charge of the services.

Mr. Barney Graves was born in Simonswolde, Germany on July 21, 1877. He lived most of his life in Carroll and Osceola counties, having come to this country when he was four years old. On March 25, 1902, he and Belle(*) Beek were united in marriage. Of this union were born two sons - Jess and Delbert, along with their mother and their families, live to mourn the passing of the husband and father. Also surviving are: one sister, Mrs. Bertha Turk; one brother, Theodore Graves; one grandson, Gordon Graves and his many friends who join the immediate family in sorrow at this time. Barney Graves was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

For twelve years Mr. Graves was employed as manager of the L.B Spracher & Sons Elevator in Sibley, later moving to Cloverdale to manage the Stockdale Elevator for 20 years. He retired from business in 1947.

(*)Transcriber's Note: Find-a-grave records indicate Barney Graves was the son of Hiram and Lena (Wessels) Graves and his wife's name as Della Beek.
