FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR FRED H. BUCHHOLZ APRIL 14

Fred H. Buchholz, 3rd son of August and Fannie (Loger) Buchholz, was born near Melvin, on Oct. 6, 1886, and passed away at Cherokee on April 11, 1962 at the age of 75 years.

As an infant he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He attended rural school and later worked as a farm hand for farmers in the community until he was forced to retire because of ill health. He purchased a home in Melvin and made it his home until this past fall when because of failing health he was taken to Cherokee. Except for the time he spent in the army during WWI, his entire life was spent in the Melvin community. He was a 40 year member of Guthrie Post No. 470 and a member of Osceola County Barracks No.1729 of WWI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John, and a sister Hattie. He leaves to mourn his passing, 4 brothers, William of Spirit Lake, Alfred of Milwaukee, Frank of Spencer and Louis of Melvin, besides a host of nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the American Lutheran church on Saturday, April 14, at 1:30 with Pastor R. Woodrich officiating.

A quartet composed of Miss Marilyn Knock, Mrs. Robert Knock, Ronald Schultz and Harry Lee Graves sang Abide With Me, and In the Hour of Trial, accompanied by Mrs. Reinhard Riessen at the organ.

Casket bearers were Raymond Frey, Andy Knock, George Year, Dr. Primising, Ernest Benz, and Clarence Nonneman. Interment was in Baker Township cemetery and arrangements were by Walton Funeral Home of Sibley.
