Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Sibley United Methodist church for John W. Wehmeyer, 69, who died Friday evening at his home following a heart attack. Rev. Galen Peckham officiated, and interment was in Holman Township Cemetery with Walton Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Wehmeyer was born July 2, 1899 in Baker Township, the son of John and Ella DeFries Wehmeyer. He and Mary Ramsey were married in 1925 at Melvin, and she died in 1953. He was a lifelong resident of this area, having farmed until he moved to Sibley in 1945. He was employed by Schnepf Lumber Co., and also for many years has been Holman Township clerk.

He is survived by three children, Virgil and Carol (Mrs. Dale Dagel) both of Sibley, and Barbara (Mrs. Arnold Booher) of Indianola. One brother, Herman, Storden, Minn. and two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Wm. Brummer) Wadena, Minn., and Stella (Mrs. Arthur Leonard) Verndale, Minn., ten grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ada Wehmeyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, one granddaughter and one brother, Henry.
