Earl Jacobs, age 80, died Saturday, January 31 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S. Dak. Funeral services were held today (Tuesday), February 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church with Rev. Andrew Meyer officiating. Burial was in the Holman Township Cemetery. The Walton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Earl McKinley Jacobs, the son of Albert and Mary (Everson) Jacobs, was born Dec. 20, 1895 in Melvin. On November 9, 1921, he married Ida Dirks in Sibley. They spent most of their married life in the Sibley area. He was a mechanic and a carpenter until he retired in 1961. He was on the Sibley police force for eight years and served as a deacon in the Trinity Reformed Church. He was a W.W.I veteran and served overseas with the U.S. 326th Infantry, 82nd Division, A.E.F. in France, May 4, 1918, to June, 1919. He was one of the originators of the Senior Citizens League and worked whole-heartedly in this project.

Survivors include his wife, Ida, and one brother, George of Worthington, Minn.
