J. EDWARD JACOBS DIES OF CANCER IN NURSING HOME

Rites Held in Sanborn Funeral Home Sat., Burial at Canton, S.D.

James Edward Jacobs, a resident of Melvin for many years, died Thursday in the VerDoorn Nursing Home at Ashton at the age of 73. Death was due to cancer. Only about a month ago, his brother Henry Jacobs was burned to death in his home at Melvin.

Funeral services were conducted in the Sanborn Funeral Home Saturday at 1 p.m. Burial was in the family plot at Forest Hill cemetery in Canton, S.D., the Rev. Mr. Schaffer was in charge of the services.

His marriage to Ida Woods took place in 1923.

He is survived by his brother, Earl Jacobs of the Sibley Police Force and a brother George of Worthington. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Lillian Graves of Melvin.

His wife preceded him in death in 1937.

NOTE: James Edward Jacobs was born in 1885 and was the son of Halvor "Albert" and Mary (Everson) Jacobs.
