I need help with a family member that interests me. Eliza Cutchler(?) married William Custer in Chester County PA. This union had at least 3 children: Josiah, Sarah Ann and Rachel. Josiah and Sarah Ann stayed in PA, Rachel married David Felix Boid Chrisman in PA. The family moved west as far as Iowa initially. Their children are:Emma Lucretia, Elizabeth, Eliza Rice, William, George Washington, Sarah Anna, charles Henry, Mary Hannah, John Harvey and Fred Alvin. Most of the family was born in and around Sanborn, O'Brien county Iowa. However, it is Eliza, mother of Rachel, that interests me. William Custer died in 1836. I believe that sometime from the death of William till about 1843 Eliza married again. This second marriage I believe was to a George Rice. Census records seem to bear this out with at least 1 daughter, Hannah M. Rice (possibly also Sarah), born to this union. George Rice disappears by 1860 and some of the family moves on to North Dakota and Minnesota. Eliza dies, apparently, in O'Brien county on 22 January 1880, but is buried in Greenwood cemetery, Matlock, Sioux county, Iowa. Can anyone shed additional information on this family and in particular on Eliza Kutchler Custer Rice?
